2010 Summer Season
Terms for Class & Event Operation

Class and Event Operation: We hold classes and events year ‘round and every three months offer a new season of classes and events. Our various class locations throughout Northern Illinois each have a weeknight where demonstration classes are held every other week at 7-9 p.m. Kids and hands-on classes are held weekends. Each location has its own class page on our website. Class dates, times, the chef-instructor and dishes to be taught are listed on each location's class page. We do not permit cell phones and beepers to be turned on during any class or event. Conversations are not permitted while the chef is teaching to permit a learning experience for all attendees. Recipe sheets and eating utensils are provided. A cash bar is available at each location before and after each class. During warm weather outdoor classes, drinks are available during classes. We also feature complimentary wine pairings of each dish by a local wine store.

Membership: Membership is for the entire household and all residents at the same address. $25 for one year, $40 for two years, or $55 for three years. Membership entitles a discount of each class, event, day trip, and excursions out of state. Members also receive Member-Only
E-nnouncements with class and event changes, and invitations to member-only events. A list is being developed with discounts to area restaurants, meat and seafood markets, entertainment, and services.

Demonstration Classes: Our classes are quite different from other demonstration classes taught throughout the Midwest. The chef does not lecture the class, but teaches our host/hostess one-on-one under a mirror system. Questions are held until the end of each dish demonstration. Seeing a dish taught without any interruptions is a great assistance in remembering when you make the dish for the first time yourself. Call us 7 days a week if you have questions about a dish. After the question session, a hearty sample is served. Usually three or more dishes are taught in each class. Bring a clipboard to our demonstration classes to write on the recipe sheets provided. Rates: $40 per nonmember and $30 per member.

Hands-on Classes: Our hands-on classes are limited to 13 persons so the chef can spend more time with each person. The class description will tell you what equipment to bring with you to class. The chef will provide all the food. You’ll leave with servings for four or more of each dish! Rates: $100 per nonmember and $80 per member. Some hands-on classes permit a discount for a couple which will be indicated in the class information.

Kids Classes: Parents must attend all classes with children under the age of 17. Each adult and child are charged the same rate per person. $35 per nonmember and $25 per member, unless noted otherwise in the class schedule. We're pretty liberal about ages. If your child is well behaved feel comfortable to register them. We've had children as young as 5 years attend, and actually ask some very intelligent questions! If adults find a particular kids class interesting, they may also register and are welcome to attend.

Special Dietary Requirements:
Notify us at least five days in advance of any class or event if you or your guests have special dietary needs. We will make every effort to substitute a food item with a suitable replacement, when we can, and do not assume any responsibility if an attendee consumes a food item for they are allergic.

Class and Event Registration: Advance registration and payment is required 7 days prior to any class or event. 

1) Advance Registration is required and can be made at www.BestChefs.comEach of our class locations has a class location page providing address and other info about the class location and a link to a Google(R) Map and Directions. Cursor down to the second page to look at each class, its details and to register. If you need to register more than four persons...register twice, or call 224.353.3300 for assistance.

2. Payment: Registration payment must be completed prior to every class or event or you may not be included in the food count. Once we receive your payment you will be added to our master registration list. We do not permit walk-ins. We no longer accept credit card payments via PayPal. Mail a check for payment to: Cooking with the Best Chefs, 1322 Forestdale Ct., Schaumburg, IL 60193-1234. Include the name of each person being registered and which class or event and date and the contact's phone number. You can call 224.353.3300 for assistance 7 days a week. No registration will be accepted without a name and phone number. Registrations made within 6 days are subject to a $10 fee. Late registrations can be made over the phone and confirmed due to availability.

Refunds and Best Chefs Credits: There are NO refunds provided for any class or event. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a class or event due to insufficient registrations, illness of chef, or for any reason. Registrants automatically receive a Best Chefs credit when a class or event is cancelled or rescheduled. There is no cutoff date to use Best Chefs credits or our gift certificates. When you register for your next class, check off Best Chefs Credit or Gift Certificate for payment. Cancellations: If a chef becomes ill or if we have insufficient number of registrations, we may have to cancel a class or event. You will be notified by email or telephone as soon as we determine the class or event will not be held. In order to hold our classes and events, we do not permit cancellations after 6 days prior to any event or class. No credit will be given if a last minute cancellation is made.

Gift Certificates: We will be happy to work with your budget and customize a personal gift certificate for you. Our gift certificates are printed on coverweight parchtext stock with the names of the recipient and gift giver, and the number of classes and type of membership.
If 5 or more demonstration or kids classes, or 2 or more hands-on classes are ordered at the same time, a free membership is provided. There’s also a discount available if the gift giver wishes their own membership. The discount also applies to those who are members already and attend a large number of classes and wish to save a little. Bearers of gift certificates are valid only for the name registered to the gift certificate. There are no cut off dates for our gift certificates! Call 224.353.3300 for assistance 7 days a week or to order.
If you have a gift certificate, simply call or email and let us know which class you'd like to register for, 7 days or more in advance.

Helpful Suggestions: Register at the beginning of each new season for each class and event you wish to attend. Bring a clipboard to class to record notes on the recipe sheets. While all seats are good with our mirror system, come early and order a drink and meet some great new foodies, like yourself. If you have any questions, feel free to call us 7 days a week.
